November was packed with site visits to nine organizations who are members of the CommCARE Independent Practitioners Association. CommCARE President and CEO Terry Trafton was inspired to personally meet both clients and caring professionals located across the central and southern parts of Missouri.

Farmington Stop.

Located in Farmington, Missouri, Friends in Action is a rehabilitation Clubhouse that is sponsored by BJC Behavioral Health. Fresh flower arrangements are sold in the clubhouse florist shop to provide an ongoing fundraiser while also serving as a psychosocial rehabilitation center for those with severe mental illness.

Trafton says, "This innovative program is a terrific resource that teaches people the skills needed to live and work in the community."


Next stop: Windsor. Then, Clinton Missouri!

With a focus on treating the whole person, the Compass Health Network provides a full continuum of health care services including primary, behavioral and dental. 

Pathways is located in Clinton, MO. Part of the Compass Health Network, this nonprofit health care organization provides a full continuum of behavioral health services as well as primary and dental health services. (image above left)

Royal Oaks Hospital in Windsor, MO, is also part of the Compass Health Network. The hospital is newly renovated and has expanded its capacity for in-patient psychiatric beds. (image above right) 

Trafton says, "Enhancing and expanding services is the goal of every agency I visited. It is so exciting to see the unique approach that every organization takes to help clients find their personal path to success."


Next Stop: Two Agencies Serving Rural Communities.

Trafton says, "Rural communities can present unique challenges for healthcare professionals.  I am so excited to see how these challenges are being met and championed by our member organizations."

Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health is located in Farmington. The beautiful location is found on top of a hill that provides a setting that is a tranquil location for recovery and rehabilitation.

Bootheel Counseling Services is a rural health and mental health clinic in Sikeston, MO. It's a town that has made a big name for itself with Lambert's cafe, Home of the Original Throwed Rolls.  The clinic has earned its own reputation as the State of Missouri's Administrative Agent for mental health services for the counties of Scott, Stoddard, Mississippi, and New Madrid.


More Sites to See in Monett and Cape Girardeau!

Clark Center is located in Monett and Pierce City, MO. Clark Center provides mental health and substance use services to residents of Barry, Dade and Lawrence Counties. 

Community Counseling Center (CCC) is located in Cape Girardeau, MO.  The center provides a full array of comprehensive behavioral health services via 40 programs and over 400 staff working together for residents living in the region of Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Madison, Perry and Ste. Genevieve Counties.Alternatives EAP is glad to welcome CCC as one of our newest clients.

Trafton says, "Seeing the member organizations in real-time gave me such a profound appreciation of all the work we are doing across the state to help provide access to mental health and substance use programs."
